Professional screenwriters who believe that it takes a local village to grow nationally recognised talent.
Screenwriters WA is committed to the care and feeding of the current and next generation of WA screenwriters. We believe that local talent can be nationally competitive and that it’s critically important to our local industry that we have WA writers writing WA stories in WA. Our mission is to help make that happen through dynamic mentoring that encompasses a variety of writing experiences (workshops, rooms, Q&As, mentorships, etc.).

WA Stories – Want to adapt a local story or identify the best format for your own story?
WA Stories is an opportunity for local writers to witness a series of highly diverse, Australian stories pitched to receive professional assessment from a panel representing each industry sector: short film, documentary, web-series, TV, and feature film.
Designed to identify the optimal angle to approach the formatting of each presented story, this event will also aid writers in identifying the correct format for their own ideas, whilst connecting local voices with producers, directors, and screenwriters.
